Traditional Art
I love to paint in my free time and it has been a hobby of mine since I was 11. Above are some of the oil and acrylic paintings I’ve created—from landscapes to a portrait of my dance team backstage. Although I paint recreationally, I have won 2 Gold Keys and 2 Silver Keys from the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition for my paintings. I’m taking AP Art this year so I hope to continue adding to my painting collection and improve in other mediums! So far I have already experimented with pieces using pen, color pencil, & tape transfers.
Graphic Design & Marketing
My love for traditional mediums led me to experiment with digital art. I learned how to work with tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, and Canva. I really appreciate graphic design as it can be used to enhance and advertise the other activities in my life that I’m passionate about—from clubs, fundraisers, and activities.
Chinese Dance
I have been dancing for as long as I can remember, making anywhere a stage—from the living room rug to the top of mountains on hikes. Chinese dance helps me connect with my heritage and allows me to appreciate the beauty and diversity of Chinese culture. To give back to the community that has given me so much, I have been a volunteer teacher assistant (100+ hours) and performed at various local charity events.
I have competed regionally to internationally with ensembles and solos. Being able to place and represent my culture at the Youth America Grand Prix Finals in front of esteemed judges and professionals has been the highlight of my dance journey.
